Role purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable IB MYP Math - Science Teacher to join our dynamic team at Westlink International School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality mathematics and science instruction to middle years students within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). The teacher will create an engaging and stimulating learning environment that encourages students to develop their mathematical understanding and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Delivery:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging mathematics and science lessons in alignment with the IB MYP curriculum.
- Incorporate inquiry-based learning and real-world applications to enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning and growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and a love of learning.
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and engagement.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units of inquiry and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational research, IB MYP practices, and innovative teaching strategies.
- Engage in reflective practice to continuously improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Communication and Community Involvement:
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities as required.
- Foster a strong sense of community and partnership between the school and its stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science or a related field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent qualification.
- Experience teaching mathematics at the secondary school level, preferably within an IB MYP framework.
- Strong knowledge of the IB MYP philosophy, principles, and practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching in an international school setting.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to use classroom technology and resources effectively.
- Occasional lifting of supplies and materials.
